We are part of the Department of Plant Pathology and the Center for Plant Science Innovation. We also are affiliated with both the Genetics, Cell, and Molecular Biology Specialization at the School of Biological Sciences and the Complex Biosystems Degree Program all through the University of Nebraska - Lincoln.
Research in the laboratory is focused on discovering the taxonomic and functional diversity of microorganisms (fungi, bacteria, viruses, etc.) associated with plant and animal hosts. We are interested in understanding how this diversity leads to plant and animals health and how these complex associations havee developed. We hope to use discoveries in the laboratory to make advances to human health and society - through direct intervension and by creating products, such as food, that extend health and reduce environmental constaints and inputs.
We are located in Plant Sciences Hall at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln’s East Campus.
